The City That Never Was: Baudrillard in the Age of Generated Media
A philosophical thriller exploring Jean Baudrillard’s hyperreality in the age of generative AI. In the coastal town of Port Ockham, you are tasked by the municipal museum with reconstructing the vanished Blue Pier. What begins as a compelling diffusion render escalates into an architectural planning crisis, an unanchored historical video archive, and legal justification for demolishing surviving physical heritage. The thriller deconstructs Baudrillard’s four stages of the simulacrum: from a plausible image to masking absence, to the pure model that precedes and dictates physical reality. The climax demands an irreversible choice: destroying the master seed and embracing the radical sovereignty of incomplete historical truth.
